Hazard Mitigation

• BVCOG received a $230,414 grant with a 25% match requirement from the Governor’s Division of Emergency Management (DEM) to develop a regional Hazard Mitigation Action Plan (HazMAP).
• BVCOG contracted with H2O Partners, Inc. out of Austin to write the HazMAP.
• BVCOG contracted with TAMU Spatial Sciences Laboratory to construct maps of the region for use in conjunction with the HazMAP.
• A Draft of plan was completed and sent to DEM for approval in May 2004.
• The plan was approved by FEMA in April 2005, pending receipt of resolutions from all 34 jurisdictions adopting the plan.
