INSPECTIONS

Each unit must be inspected before it is added to the program and annually thereafter.  Housing Quality Standards are published by HUD and may be added to by the BVCOG to ensure families are provided with a safe and healthy living environment.  A Good Place to Live provides a good overview of these requirements.

If a unit was built before 1978, the landlord and the tenant must sign a Lead-based Paint Disclosure form. 

There a number of common issues found when conducting an HQS inspection.  We recommend reviewing the List of Common Faults prior to requesting an inspection.  BVCOG most often cannot begin housing assistance payments until all faults are resolved.
