APPLICANTS

Eligibility for a voucher is based on the total annual gross income, family size and is limited to U.S. citizens and specified categories of non-citizens who have eligible immigration status. Generally, the family’s income may not be more than 50% of the median income for the county or metropolitan area in which the family chooses to live.

Median income levels are published by HUD and vary by location.

During the application process, the BVCOG will collect information on family income and family composition.  The BVCOG will use the information to determine preliminary program eligibility.

Accepted families are notified by mail and added to the Waiting List until a voucher is available.  The BVCOG applies preferences to the elderly or disabled when determining the order in which applicants are called from the Waiting List. The wait time can range anywhere from 6 months to 2 years.

When a voucher becomes available, the agency will send a letter to the address listed on the application to schedule an appointment. The applicant will be called into a meeting to be completely briefed on all aspects of the voucher program.

Wait list check status: 1-800-503-9077 https://www.waitlistcheck.com/index.php

NOTE: It is important that a family update the agency with a current mailing address.  All correspondence is in writing and will be mailed to the last known mailing address.  A family that does not respond to BVCOG correspondence is removed from the waiting list and must reapply.
